Forgiveness
Forgiveness is a crucial behavior in our recovery journey's. Forgiveness involves letting go of guilt, shame, and resentment. Those aforementioned emotions can be stunting to our development and our recoveries and allow us to keep living in fight or flight mode. True healing can not occur unless we forgive ourselves and others. This process is simple not easy. It takes vigilance, consistency, kindness, patience, and love. And when we learn to forgive ourselves and others it ushers in an era of healing and self-acceptance.
Forgiveness can significantly lower anxiety, depressive symptoms, stress, and increase your level of contentment. Forgiveness also fosters healthier relationships and encourages connection which is vital for our successful recoveries .When we live in forgiveness, we view our world differently and we view our past differently. We begin to see our past and present challenges not as failures but as opportunities for growth.
